Balloting has been closed. We have received a total of 153 ballots, and resulting in 10 proposals exceeding the 2/3 requirement for discussion at the ABC. Go to the proposal details to review the ballot results (including comments received for all of the proposals).

We have received a record 55 ACA members registered to attend the ABC (WOW!). We have members registered to attend from Finland (17), USA (16), Denmark (8), Russia (5), Latvia (4), UK (2), Hungary (2), Sweden (1), and Norway (1). Unfortunately, we are no longer able to accept further registrations.

Special Notice for those attending the ABC:
The ABC will include catered Friday and Saturday lunches (required by the facility for use of the facilities). Attendees will be individually responsible for all other meals.
The ABC Committee is asking the delegates for donations to partially defray the cost of the meals for the two days of lunch and beverages of $40-50 (US Dollars or equivalent) which will be collected at registration. Please note that there are few places to eat near the facility and that the cafe is offering us a special discount rate, they experience long wait times on weekends and may run out of food. We suggest making a donation and eating with the rest of the delegates to make sure you have something good to eat and enjoy the fellowship time.
Also: The total cost of the meals and use of the facility will be around $5400 USD, so any additional donations to the WSO in support of the ABC will be much appreciated.

Proposals for consideration at the ABC are now available for download and consideration by ACA meetings and Intergroups. Click here for a copy of proposals.

New: An updated April 10, 2013 Agenda for the ABC is now available for download. Click here for your copy. Do note that this agenda is subject to change by group conscience action of those attending the ABC.

To members of the ACA Fellowship:

Since 1983 Adult Children of Alcoholics World Service Organization (WSO) has conducted its Annual Business Conference (ABC) on the 4th weekend in April. The ABC provides open forums for communication and service coordination within ACA in order to improve the consistency of service to the Fellowship. It is open to all ACA members, meetings, InterGroups and related service organizations.

During the period September thru December 2012, each meeting and InterGroup had the opportunity to submit proposals for consideration at the 2013 ABC. Sixteen proposals were received during that period. The proposals received have been assembled into a document for discussion by the fellowship, as well as ballots for the fellowship to vote on each proposal. The proposal document also contains an impartial WSO Analysis of each proposal with related backgroup, and potential impact and cost of the proposal. Click here for a copy of proposals.

All registered ACA meeting and Intergroup Point of Contacts with email addresses on record have been emailed notications of the above proposals along with instructions for submitting a group conscience ballot to determine which proposals should be discussed at the ABC (ballot forms are also available at the top of this web page). Ballots must be returned by April 15, 2013 to be included in the ballot count presented to the ABC.

Those proposals receiving a two-thirds majority vote by the fellowship will be included for discussion at the ABC. These proposals, and related discussions, will then provide guidance and prioritizations to the WSO Board and related committees for the coming year.

This will be the first year for the WSO ABC to be held outside the United States of America. Click here for further information for the 2013 Annual Business Conference.

The 2013 ABC will be held April 26-28, 2013 at the Birkerød Idrætscenter (Birkerød Sports Centre), approximately 30 kilometers (18 miles) from Copenhagen, Denmark (the ABC itself will be conducted in English). For those flying into Copenhagen, train service is available between Copenhagen and Birkerød.

For further information about the Birkerød Idrætscenter, go to the web site www.rudersdal.dk/rudersdal_rundt/fritid_kultur/idraet/idraetsanlaeg/birkeroed_idraetscenter.aspx.

The ABC Committee has identified two hotels that are within walking distance of the Birkerød Idrætscenter:

Hint: The Birkerød Idrætscenter and above hotel web sites are in Danish (the official language of Denmark). For those who can't read Danish, suggest using the Google Chrome Browser to view the web sites; this browser includes the capability to translate the web pages into the language of your choice.

Note: ACA's Tradition 6 states: "Tradition 6. An ACA group ought never endorse, finance or lend the ACA name to any related facility or outside enterprise, lest problems of money, property and prestige divert us from our primary purpose." Suggestions for use of the Google Chrome browser is solely to allow our members easier translation access to these web sites. Similiarly, suggestions for use of any of these facilities is is solely to allow provide information to those who may be attending the ABC. Their potential use does not consititute an endorsement, an affiliation or lending of the ACA name in any way whatsoever to any of these organizations.

We encourage every meeting and InterGroup to nominate at least one person to attend this year’s ABC (though registrations are now closed as we've reached the facility capacity). For further questions about the ABC and/or local facilites, please contact the ABC Committee at abc@adultchildren.org

Note: Please don't use the above on-line form to notify the WSO of meeting updates. That will only delay such updates getting processed. Instead, go to http://www.acawso.org/meeting-register to submit your meeting updates. Thank you for your consideration in this matter.

Yours in service,
2013 ABC Committee Chair
